New Nissan Navara doming soon
Nissan has confirmed that its mid-size Navara pickup truck will soon debut in an all-new generation.
This version of the Navara will officially debut on November 19 in Australia and New Zealand, and it is a vehicle that uses Mitsubishi's underpinnings and has nothing to do with the upcoming South American Navara.
The announcement is accompanied by a new teaser video, which offers a new look at the vehicle that will be the Mitsubishi Triton's sibling. The new Navara will share more than a few elements with the Triton, although Nissan insists that it will "incorporate design details that pay homage to previous generations".
Nissan has hinted at changes in design and engineering to further differentiate the models in the eyes of potential buyers.
Nissan's details are likely to include unique LED graphics on the split headlights and taillights, a revised hood, a new grille and a redesigned front bumper.
The range is expected to include multiple configurations (chassis, single cab and dual cab), to satisfy different categories of buyers.
For now, a 2.4-liter turbodiesel with 150 kW/204 hp and 407 Nm is mentioned, and a plug-in hybrid variant is reportedly on the way.
Mitsubishi's version is available with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission and rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. In other markets, the Triton is also available with a less powerful turbodiesel engine, as well as a 2.4-liter gasoline engine with 128 hp.
Nissan also plans to introduce a more robust version of the Pro-4X Warrior developed in collaboration with Premcar.
The new generation Navara is scheduled to launch in Australia and New Zealand during the first half of 2026. It remains to be seen whether the new model will be offered in other markets.
Should this new Navara fail to fire, there may not be another, so there's a lot riding on this new ute for Nissan – a company already not in the strongest financial position on a global scale.
There are still many questions to be answered about the new Navara, but here is everything we know so far ahead of its reveal on November 19, 2025.
Styling has been one of the biggest questions surrounding the new Navara since it was confirmed five years ago that it would be twinned with the Triton.
Fans of the ute have long hoped it would wear almost all-new bodywork on top of the shared chassis, as with the Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Amarok, or Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50.
However, teaser images released in recent days suggest all of the metal panels – the bonnet, roof, doors, wheel arches, etc – will be shared with the Triton, with only bumpers and headlight/tail-light internals changed.
