Praga Bohema: the Czech hypercar with a 3.8L engine from the 700 hp Nissan GT-R

We have ex-Stig Ben Collins, the Top Gear track — the Dunsfolf circuit — and a Praga Bohema with 700 hp, ready to explore in the best way possible. There are worse days.

Although it is not one of the best-known car manufacturers, Praga is a company founded in 1907 and has an incredible history of two-, three- and four-wheeled vehicles.

From the classic ZS 800 motorcycle to the Alfa, a compact aircraft, including karts and racing trucks for the Dakar, Praga has produced a bit of everything. However, at the moment, it is this Praga Bohema that is causing a stir.

It is a new road-going hypercar without any electrified help. It is powered «only» by a 3.8 V6 biturbo engine, the same as the Nissan GT-R, but with some modifications.

There are new turbos, a dry sump system and a titanium exhaust. But most amazingly, it also weighs less than a ton.

Design...Although the Bohema is heavily geared towards track performance, it retains several features that somewhat preserve its usability as a road car, such as storage compartments located in the rear wheel arches and Alcantara stitching in the interior. British company Litchfield Engineering also made several modifications to the engine, which is shared with the Nissan GT-R . The VR38DETT's wet sump oil system was replaced by a dry sump, the turbochargers were replaced with Litchfield's own, bringing power and torque up to 710 PS (700 hp; 522 kW) at 6,800 rpm and 725 N⋅m (535 lb⋅ft) between 3,000 rpm and 6,000 rpm, and it is paired with a titanium exhaust at the rear.

The result is a road-legal racing car that can be driven during the day, as Ben Collins did.

On the Top Gear track, it became the fastest combustion engine-only car of all time, one tenth of a second behind the Aston Martin Valkyrie — a hybrid with 1,140 hp.
