Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale: The Italian Dodge Viper

Alfa Romeo has produced some truly beautiful sports cars in its history, including the TZ3 Stradale, and one of only nine examples is now up for sale.

Alfa produced the TZ3 Stradale in 2010 to celebrate its 100th anniversary. The car was designed by Zagato and debuted at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in Italy. It is based on the Dodge Viper ACR-X platform and weighs just 850 kilograms thanks to a lightweight carbon fiber frame and aluminum body panels.

Under the long hood is the Viper's 8.4-liter V10 engine, which develops 650 hp and 760 Nm of torque, and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just over three seconds, while the maximum speed exceeds 320 km/h.

Zagato TZ3 Stradale and Dodge Viper...The Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale is the road-going version of the TZ3 (hence the name TZ3 Stradale, stradale meaning road in Italian), designed by Norihiko Harada of Zagato, and was built to celebrate 100 years of Alfa Romeo on the road. The TZ3's chassis is based on the Dodge Viper ACR-X and was redesigned to suit road conditions. Only nine units of the vehicle were built.

The TZ3 is powered by the Viper's 8.4 L all-aluminum, 90° OHV, 2-valve V10 engine from the ACR-X, but its output has been derated to 600 horsepower (450 kW; 610 PS) at 6,100 rpm and 560 pound-feet (760 N⋅m) of torque at 5,000 rpm. Redline is reached at 6,250 rpm. All that power is delivered to the rear wheels via a Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual transmission.

As reported by Mundoquatrorodas, this is the fifth of a total of nine examples produced, which has only covered 3,000 kilometers. The exterior is painted in dark blue metallic, while the interior is covered in caramel-colored leather.

When it was new, the car cost more than a million dollars, which was expected for such a rare and powerful machine, and the example shown in the photos can be obtained for a price of 675,000 dollars.
