Enea Bastianini wins against Álex Márquez and Pecco Bagnaia contains Jorge Martín
The Italian Enea Bastianini gave an exhibition at the Malaysian Grand Prix to take his first victory of the year, leading from start to finish and keeping at bay the Spaniard Álex Márquez, who was unable to complete the double after winning yesterday in the Sprint and He has had to settle for second position which represents his second podium of the course and his fourth in the premier category.
The fight for the title remains red hot with the Italian Pecco Bagnaia giving himself a break by finishing third ahead of the Spaniard Jorge Martín, who is now 14 points behind with 74 still up for grabs. Mathematically, only the two of them can be MotoGP 2023 champions.
In order not to make a single concession to the other, Jorge Martín and Pecco Bagnaia braked harder than anyone else... and they both passed, being passed by Enea Bastianini and Álex Márquez, with Bagnaia behind them and Marco Bezzecchi sneaking in front of Martín. Behind the five Ducatis were Jack Miller and Fabio Quartararo.
Before finishing the first lap, Martín passed Bezzecchi to catch up with Bagnaia, who was little by little losing time compared to Bastianini and Márquez. In the third turn came Martín's attack on Bagnaia, who managed to recover the interior by opening gas to protect the position. A turn later the next challenge occurred, pairing up again in the rapid area and again with the Italian emerging victorious.
The first two falls occurred from behind: first Joan Mir when he was fighting to get into the points zone, and then Miguel Oliveira when he was fighting for 19th place. Right after, Raúl Fernández abandoned due to technical problems. To complete the disaster at Aprilia, Aleix Espargaró crashed.
