HELIX
884 hp electric motor, weighing only 28 kg
UK-based Helix has unveiled a new electric motor that will be fitted to an upcoming electric hypercar. The electric motor is codenamed SPX177, weighs only 28 kg and produces 884 horses (650 kW), making it the most powerful electric motor the company has built to date.
The inverter weighs 13 kilograms and Helix says its tests have shown the motor can produce more than 952 horsepower (700 kW). In fact, he points out that compared to the plug-in hybrid engine of the McLaren Artura, the electric motor weighs only 1/7 of that and produces more horsepower.
Of course, the company does not calculate the weight of the batteries that supply energy to its electric motor, a weight that will be much greater than the weight of a fully filled tank of Artura.
