Pirelli presents the P Zero Trofeo RS
Designed as original equipment for supercars, it delivers on-track performance and street-safety.
Pirelli presents the P Zero Trofeo RS: the latest version of the semi slick tyre, designed for car manufacturers with the aim of enhancing the performance of their sportiest models. One example is Pagani Automobili, which was the first to request a specific version of the new tire for the Utopia; his latest hypercar.
The new tire was born as a technical evolution of the P Zero Trofeo R and is also distinguished by its market position. The P Zero Trofeo R was originally designed as an aftermarket tire to improve performance on the track, while the P Zero Trofeo RS is primarily intended as original equipment, giving automakers the possibility to make cars available ready-made for a new sporty driving experience.
This new generation of Pirelli semi slick tires offers even more performance in the dry, with even more consistency. Even with the most intense use of the tyre, performance is maintained for longer, to allow for more speed and safety on many different track sessions: a result obtained thanks to Pirelli's extensive experience in the main categories of world motorsport. The materials used, especially in the standard tread compound, make full use of this know-how, adapting it for both street and track use. As this tire is original equipment for street-legal hypercars and supercars, Pirelli engineers have also focused on safety in wet asphalt conditions.
A tire with on-demand technologies...Pirelli's Research and Development department has managed to apply a series of innovative technologies to the P Zero Trofeo RS, developed also thanks to Pirelli's involvement in high-level competitions found in the world's main categories. These tires are available from an on-demand portfolio to meet the targets set by the manufacturers for each specific model. An example is Multi-Compound Tread, a technology that allows tires to be customized to complement each car's individual characteristics by combining them with different tread pattern compounds from Pirelli's Prestige catalogue.
For the Pagani Utopia, the P Zero Trofeo RS were requested, developed to increase performance in more aggressive driving, compared to the P Zero Corsa, without compromising the car's balance or the feeling of handling on the streets. This mission was accomplished thanks especially to the selected compounds. For the rear tyres, which are more performance-focused, the compounds have been developed to offer speed and safety on the track, as well as comfort and predictability on the street.
Another innovation implemented by Pirelli engineers was the Virtual Geometry Development, which made it possible to evaluate a large number of different driving profiles through virtual modeling, in order to define the reaction to the different types of driving encountered on the streets, with maximum precision. .
This virtual development process was used extensively for Utopia Pagani, before the first physical prototypes were produced. A lot of work has been done on the tread in particular, to offer the ultimate in grip and control.
The new Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS is already available for cars that use it as original equipment and, in the future, a wide range of aftermarket tires will be available. The P Zero Trofeo R will remain available in a specific range of dimensions.
