Chinese brand presented in Brazil its line of 100% electric heavy trucks
The Chinese manufacturer XCMG presented in Brazil its line of 100% electric heavy trucks to handle heavy transport. Thus, with these vehicles, the vice president of the brand in the country, Tian Dong, says he wants to conquer the truck market on the curve. In other words, filling a gap in the market, which is electric heavy trucks.
According to Dong, the Brazilian businessman understands that electromobility in transport is a path of no return. And that this is part of the evolution in the operation. In addition, multinationals are looking for vehicles to meet the sector's demands in relation to sustainability policies in transport and EGS practices. However, at the moment, the truck industry in the country prioritizes light electric trucks for urban transport.
"While the more traditional industry starts electrification with light trucks, XCMG arrives with heavy models. After all, this is our expertise. In addition, we study the market and understand that it is time to expand this offer", pointed out Dong.
Chinese XCMG's plans in Brazil...XCMG intends to start local production of trucks within two years. For this, the cabin and chassis nationalization process will begin. Furthermore, it does not rule out using axles from local suppliers. Even being the manufacturer of the axle itself in China. On the other hand, XCMG will bring from there systems such as batteries and inverters, in addition to the electric power train. After all, the components are branded production.
In any case, the manufacturer's intention is to offer vehicles through Finame, a financing system via BNDES. In this sense, for the time being, XCMG has its own bank to supply its trucks. Thus, for the launch, it offers financing plans for electric trucks at rates of 0.99% per month.
XCMG's E7 line trucks...For the time being, the new heavy trucks are imported from China. This is the E7 range of road and vocational vehicles. The E7-49T is a 6x4 tractor with a 49-ton PBTC and an electric motor that develops 482 hp and maximum torque of a robust 204.1 mkgf. The engine works with a four-speed automatic transmission. Thus, it delivers a range of 150 km with a full charge.
Another model is the E7-29R, an 8x4 rigid truck with a second steering axle. This focuses on mining operations. The model has a PBT of 29 t and has the same power train as its road brother. According to the commercial manager at XCMG, Ricardo Senda, the intention is to sell around 500 units of the trucks by the end of this year. The company has already sold 30 units. And it has a stock of 300 units, 200 of which are highway vehicles. Delivery time after invoicing is 30 days.
Structured in the country since 2014... In any case, XCMG has a factory located in Pouso Alegre (MG) since 2014. The site occupies an area of 805,000 m² with an annual production capacity of 10,000 vehicles. In addition, it employs around 1,000 employees. The unit received investments of U$S 500 million.
In this sense, the manufacturer, which today has 45 dealerships, plans to double its network over the next three years. But the current structure is prepared to serve the customers of the trucks launched. As well as the offer of yellow line and heavy construction vehicles. It is worth remembering that XCMG operates in the supply of vehicles to serve the mining, general and heavy construction, lifting, loading segment. In addition to lifting and drilling, among others.
