Alpine A424 ß: the bolide that will compete in the LMDh category in 2024

The Alpine car factory will return to the king category of long-distance racing with the help of the Oreca racing stable, the new LMDh racing car called the A424ß was shown before this year's 24 Hours of LeMans. The number 4 is traditionally the designation of Alpine racing cars, the number 24 refers to the LeMans race on the one hand and the year of the car's debut i.e. 2024 on the other hand, and the ß indicates the penultimate stage of development.

The internal combustion engine of the Alpine A424 ß is a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 with 675 horsepower, hybrid assistance is provided by the Bosch electric motor (68 HP) required by regulations, the 7-speed cross gearbox is made by Xtrac. Carbon brake discs are clamped by 6-piston calipers and Michelin tires are mounted on 12.5×18-inch rims at the front and 14×18-inch rims at the rear. By the way, Alpine prepared the first drafts of the A424 in November 2021, wind tunnel tests started in July 2022 with the body built on this basis, the first test of the internal combustion engine took place in December 2022 and in May From 2023 testing of the entire transmission system began in the laboratory. 


Testing will start at the end of July 2023, FIA homologation will be obtained at the end of December and, according to plans, the Alpine A424 will be used for the first time in March 2024.
