Exclusive: 24 Hours of Le Mans celebrates a century of existence

When the starting flag drops this weekend and the famous “24 Hours of Le Mans” endurance race begins, it will mark exactly a century of its existence since the first race that took place in 1923.

So far, in the first hundred years since its first start, 90 races of this magnificent competition have been held at the Circuit de la Sarthe near the French city of Le Mans.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race has not changed its mind for a century, which is reflected in the efforts of manufacturers not only to make a fast sports car, but also to develop technical solutions that will be very durable in practice, such as the best test type for serial use.

Through a continuous tour that lasts exactly 24 hours, participants not only test the technology, but also the limits of driving possibilities, because in the end the best combination of a durable car and capable drivers and their team wins.

This year will be particularly exciting as 62 teams have been announced, 16 of which are in the strongest “hypercar” class. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Porsche, Ferrari, Cadillac, Acura and Peugeot are returning to the track this year with their official factory team.

In addition to the respectable list of brands, this year's jubilee race will also stand out for the fact that behind the wheels of the cars there is a whole constellation of up to 18 Formula 1 drivers (Jenson Button, Robert Kubitza, Daniil Kvyat,…)

Vrele Guma is on site to record the events on the track, but also the much more interesting ones in the pits of the racing teams.
