MITSUBISHI XRT CONCEPT: UMA ANTECIPAÇÃO DA PRÓXIMA GERAÇÃO DO MITSUBISHI L200

XRT Concept: anticipation of the new generation of the Mitsubishi L200

After the announcement of the new generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV for 2024, the Japanese brand last week revealed its medium-term plans. Despite the decarbonization of the line as the main protagonist, we also learned that we will see a new generation of the Mitsubishi L200 next year. The Mitsubishi XRT Concept is your anticipation.

It will be one of 16 new models for the next five years, and for now it remains under wraps. It features special packaging inspired by “lava rocks filled with condensed energy” that make the pick-up look like a military vehicle. Despite this, we can make out the main lines of the design and many of the details. The Ralliart logo is a reminder of Mitsubishi's motorsport heritage.

The exterior of the 2024 Mitsubishi L200 will feature split headlamps, a square grille and a heavily sculpted profile with muscular fenders. Additionally, the prototype is equipped with all-terrain tires, a tubular frame on the rear bed with two spare wheels, a snorkel, side steps and wide fender extensions.

Mitsubishi has not revealed technical details, but reports indicate it will use a side-beam and cross-member chassis shared with the next-generation Nissan Navara. On that basis, we'd expect a slightly longer wheelbase and possibly a bigger bucket, while the rear wheels appear to have drum brakes.

Under the hood we can expect a turbodiesel engine, perhaps with some kind of hybridization. The manufacturer mentioned an all-electric pick-up, but it is most likely a different model. The Mitsubishi XRT Concept is on display at the 2023 Bangkok Motor Show from March 21 to April 2.

The sixth-generation Mitsubishi L200 will mark the first complete redesign in nine years since the fifth-generation model was introduced in 2014, before receiving a facelift in 2018. The L200 is Mitsubishi's best-selling model and is produced at the Laemchabang plant , in Thailand, to around 150 markets worldwide.
