BIZZARRINI

BIZZARRINI GIOTTO: MOTOR V12 ASPIRADO NATURALMENTE E DESIGN GIUGIARO

Bizzarrini Giotto: naturally aspirated V12 engine designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro

Those who are car enthusiasts have certainly heard of the Italian brand Bizzarrini, founded in the 60s of the last century by Giotto Bizzarrini, an engineer who had previously worked at Ferrari and Alfa Romeo, but who wanted to manufacture his own sports cars in Lux.

Before building his brand of exclusive cars, Bizzarrini worked on iconic projects such as the Ferrari F250 GTO and the famous F250 GT SWB 'Breadvan', but he also collaborated on the development of Lamborghini's first V12 engine through his company Societa Autostar.

Before founding his company Societa Prototipi Bizzarrini (Bizzarrini S.p.A) in 1964, Giotto also worked for Iso Rivolta, and until 1969, when Bizzarrini went bankrupt, the company's factory in Livorno, 100 kilometers west of Firenze, in Italy, produced around 140 vehicles.

Many years later, in 2020, Pegasus Brands acquired the rights to the Bizzarrini name in an attempt to revive the brand, releasing a modern edition of the 5300 GT as a 'continuation' model, but limited to just 24 exclusive units.

Now, however, Bizzarrini has shown a new model, actually a super sports car named Giotto, in honor of the founder of the brand, which was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and his son Fabrizio.

As we can see in the images, it is a supercar with a carbon fiber body, which takes some traits from the 5300 GT, according to the company itself. In this case, however, the engine is in the center rear position, whereas in the 1960s model it was in the front position.

The absolute protagonist of the car, in addition to the bodywork, is the naturally aspirated V12 engine that it hides, coupled to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Performance data have not yet been provided (will be released later this year), but we assume that it will not lack power, precisely.

The company has assured that the V12 engine is of its own development and that the model testing program will start in 2024, which means that the car will not reach the market before the year 2025, at the earliest.
