CX-90: the brand's most powerful crossover is announced

Mazda, after a series of full video teasers, has finally officially unveiled its flagship CX-90 crossover. True, there are still no details about the cost and part of the technical parameters (in particular, the power reserve is not told).

The CX - 90 has become the most powerful crossover of the brand - in the top version, under the hood there will be an in-line six-cylinder engine with a volume of 3.3 liters, a capacity of 345 hp and a torque of 500 nm. True, even this version is, in fact, a hybrid. The composition of the so-called soft hybrid includes a 48-volt starter generator, which ensures the operation of the start-stop system.

The second option is a rechargeable hybrid with a 2.5-liter engine, a traction battery with a capacity of 17.8 kWh and an electric motor. The power of the power plant is 327 hp, the torque is still the same as 500 nm. The range with pure electricity is 48 km.

Both power plants are combined with an 8-speed "automatic" and four-wheel drive.

A feature of the Mazda CX-90 is the Kinematic Posture Control (KPC) system, which reduces the speed of the rear inner wheel when cornering, thereby improving handling. As for the chassis of the crossover, there is a spring suspension with double wishbones at the front and a multi-lever suspension at the rear.

The car received adaptive cruise control, an overview system, blind spot monitoring, lane control and traffic sign recognition.

In terms of design (both exterior and interior), there are no revelations: we can say that the CX-90 is a CX-60 in scale. By the way, Mazda did not reveal the dimensions of the new flagship, but in any case it should not be smaller than the CX-9, otherwise there would be no way to fit 8 seats in the cabin. However, the three-row CX-90 can seat seven or even six.

Mazda focuses on the fact that the interior is made with great attention to detail and its design uses natural lacquer, aluminum and Nappa leather.

At the base, the CX-90 has a virtual dashboard, USB-C ports for all passengers (including the third row), and a 10.25-inch ultra-widescreen media system. In more expensive versions, a 12.3-inch screen is installed. The list of options includes three-zone climate control, Bose acoustics, a projection screen and a panoramic roof.

US sales of the CX-90 will begin in a few months. Pricing has yet to be announced, but the cost is expected to be in the range of $40-$60,000.
