TOYOTA
As reported by CarsSales with reference to a Toyota representative in Australia, the automaker does not plan to discontinue the Land Cruiser 70. In addition, there is information about plans to launch a new model.
Next year, Land Cruiser 70 will celebrate its 40th anniversary, in honor of which it plans to start selling an updated SUV. LandCruiser 70 Series is the oldest and most serious Toyota SUV, capable not only of overcoming serious obstacles, but also of towing heavy loads.
First introduced in 1984, the Series 70 has since 2007 been powered by a less powerful version of the 4.5 liter turbocharged V8 diesel engine used in the Series 200 LandCruiser.
The new car will not be much different from the current version: it will receive round headlights, bodywork with cut-out shapes and massive front fenders. But there will be more changes in the interior: the appearance of a hybrid modification of the Land Cruiser 70 is not excluded. Also, the SUV can get a "turbo four" from the Land Cruiser Prado with a volume of 2.8 liters. In any case, the power unit must become more compact and more environmentally friendly. This is important, because the "greening" of the model range is the main trend today.
Japanese magazines wrote that the revived Land Cruiser 70 will be presented in the fall. But new product sales are unlikely to start before 2024.
