Mitsubishi has stated that the 2023 Outlander 40th Anniversary Edition will sport a black bodywork with '40th Anniversary' badges to underscore its special status.

Inside, this edition sports the black and brown finish of the top-of-the-line trim in the US (the SEL Premium Package), but also includes synthetic leather upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, a 10.8-inch Head-up Display and a Bose sound system.

US customers will be able to choose between the gasoline engine version or the plug-in hybrid version, Outlander PHEV, but in both cases Super All-Wheel Control all-wheel drive is standard on this 40th Anniversary Edition.

In the United States, the Mitsubishi Outlander received an important restyling in 2021, with a more forceful design and an improved interior, with more technology, whose aim was to revive a model that, after years on the market, needed an update.

As for engines, the gasoline option is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder block that delivers 184 hp of power, while the plug-in hybrid version combines a 2.4-liter engine, also 4-cylinder and gasoline, with two propellers. electric, for a total of 252 hp. In this case, it announces an autonomy in electric mode of 60 kilometers.

It should be remembered that Mitsubishi began selling vehicles under its own brand in the United States in 1982, although it had already marketed them under the Dodge and Plymouth brands years before. The manufacturer's headquarters were established in Fountain, California, before moving to Cypress, California, and then Franklin, Tennessee, in 2019.

The Mitsubishi Outlander 40th Anniversary Edition advertises a starting price of $41,340 for the gasoline version, while the PHEV version starts at $51,340.
