JAS MOTORSPORT REVELA O NOVO HONDA CIVIC TYPE R TCR DE CORRIDAS

JAS Motorsport presented the Honda Civic Type R TCR adapted for circuit

The competition team and engineering company JAS Motorsport has just presented the Honda Civic Type R TCR, i.e. a new racing car based on the latest Type R, which will start competing in the upcoming 2023 season.

This competition vehicle is based on the production Type R FL5, launched this year, although the Honda Civic already has extensive experience in the TCR as a model, a championship in which it debuted in 2015.

One of the main novelties of this TCR compared to the street Type R is the exterior design, as it has a specific aerodynamic kit for circuit use, capable of generating greater aerodynamic load and providing greater stability when cornering.

It is clear that the TCR incorporates an improved braking system, a racing transmission and a prepared version of the 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that equips the production Type R, although power and torque figures have not been announced. It should be noted that, as standard, the block offers 330 hp and 420 Nm of maximum torque.

In the passenger compartment, JAS Motorsport also carried out an important work, emptying the interior of everything that is not necessary for competition and thus reducing the weight of the whole. In addition to a safety cage and OMP bucket benches, a digital screen for the driver and a competition steering wheel were installed.

JAS Motorsport will also offer an 'endurance' version designed for endurance racing, such as the VLN, 24-hour events and the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, and according to the company, the car inherits everything that was learned by the customer racing program of NSX GT3.

This version includes additional lighting (in other categories you don't race at night), ABS brakes, a quick-fill system, a more complete information screen and a ventilation system for the pilot, among other things.

The Honda model made its debut last December 5 at the Italian circuit Tazio Nuvolari, in Cervesina, with Honda Racing Driver Néstor Girolami at the wheel, although it is still immersed in a test and development program on the circuit, before the delivery of cars to customers, scheduled for April 2023.
