AUTONEWS
Carwow YouTube channel presenter Matt Watson showed a report on the McMurtry Spierling electric car, which claims the title of fastest vehicle in the world.
The Spierling electric car offers a power of 1000 hp and, for stability, the car is equipped with propellers that increase its downforce. This provides the electric car with maneuverability at high speeds and helps to move more efficiently.
The host channel had several practice sessions, during which the car showed itself to be almost on par with the Rimac Nevera, but the authors of the story suggested that McMurtry Spierling is capable of more. Therefore, at first, the tests were transferred to a track with a more suitable surface, and then they decided to run a race on preheated rubber.
As a result, it was possible to accelerate the electric car to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in just 1.4 seconds – something not every racing car is capable of. The car covered the standard quarter mile (400 m) distance in 7.97 seconds. Such accelerations and speeds were not in vain for the driver - after the trip, Mr. Watson was a little bewildered and even suggested that this aspect be taken into account during the series production of the car.
The McMurtry Spierling will be produced in limited quantities, and the manufacturer insists the electric car is suitable for driving on public roads. However, it will cost $2.42 million.
