Absolute rarity: 1989 Golf GTI MK2 in immaculate condition to be auctioned in England

The 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show was the setting chosen by Volkswagen to present the second generation of its GTI, which already had many fans at the time. The review was extraordinary, and two years later, the British magazine What Car awarded it the title of 'Car of the Year 1985'. Almost 40 years later, this sports compact continues to seduce thousands of car enthusiasts who now have the opportunity to purchase a copy, this Volkswagen Golf GTI MK2 from 1989, with only 44,000 kilometers.

This Volkswagen Golf GTI unit was delivered by Links Garage in Derbyshire (UK) to its owner, William Hird, on August 15, 1989. The car combines the Tornado Red exterior color with a gray and red fabric interior in very good condition, with the original rugs and a set of tools, as well as a first aid kit. The Golf GTI that will be auctioned by Silverstone Auctions has gone through three hands. William Hird sold the car to his neighbor, Mr. Green, who has always been enchanted by the car and has always been interested in buying it. This was in 2010. Its third owner was Chris Burt, who bought the GTI to leave it in its current state. It has won numerous awards and contests, such as the Stanford Hall Concours d'Elegance in 2019, considered the best in the UK for Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche.
