MITSUBISHI
Absolute rarity: 1997 Pajero Evolution in immaculate condition is for sale in the UK
Only 2,500 of these 'supercrossovers' were created in a special production that lasted three years with the aim of homologating the competition car that Mitsubishi wanted to take to the mythical Dakar Rally, within a category based on series production cars. All created copies of the Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution were sold in Japan, so any units that can be found outside the country of the rising sun were imported. This is the case of this 1997 Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution that is being auctioned over the internet.
The vehicle shown in the images has been registered in the UK since 2019 and sports a white exterior in good condition, with specific bumpers, side skirts, a ventilated hood, flared wheel arches and a rear spoiler. It has, of course, a gray and black fabric interior with Recaro front seats. The entire set rests on a set of 16-inch white wheels with Yokohama tires.
Among the standard equipment is air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, and a reduced one. An aftermarket sound system has been installed, although the sales announcement specifies that the original will be included. Also highlight that the only changes are a new exhaust system and a front protection plate in red tone.
Under the hood is a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 engine with a MIVEC variable timing system. The engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission with an all-wheel drive system. The block develops a power of 280 hp and a maximum torque of 347 Nm. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 205 km/h.
The car has been kept in a garage with very little use over the last few years, although it has accumulated 180,180 kilometers driven in the last 25 years. The ad specifies that it has just undergone a complete overhaul that includes timing belt. Now, this 1997 Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution is up for auction online through Collecting Cars. The auction will conclude next Tuesday, October 4th at 9 pm. At the time of writing these lines it had a total of 19 bids, the highest being 30,750 pounds sterling.
