Chevrolet Trax finally gets a new generation in the United States
After about seven years on the market without major changes, the Chevrolet Trax finally receives a new generation in the United States. As predicted, the model took a different path than that adopted by GM do Brasil and has no relation to the Tracker sold here (before both were the same car). The new one is bigger and shows more style, in fact, it is the North American version of the Chinese Chevrolet Seeker.
On the outside, the Trax 2024 follows Chevrolet's new visual identity, but brings differences from its oriental brother. On the front, the optical set divided into two parts continues to draw attention, but the bumper has been reviewed and now has a more sporty appearance. The central section has gloss black elements and a design that varies from version to version. It also has exclusive design wheels (17, 18 or 19 inches) and a color palette with shades more in line with local taste.
On the inside, the revenue from the outside was also maintained. That is, the general design is the same, but Chevrolet has increased details to be different from the Seeker. This is the case with the covering of the seats (which vary according to each version) and the appliqués on the panel. They also change the graphics of the digital panel and the multimedia center, which can be 8.0 or 11 inches with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The line consists of LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and Activ finishes. Depending on the case, the equipment list includes four-wheel disc brakes, active noise cancellation, push-button start, automatic air conditioning, wireless charging for smartphones and adaptive cruise control.
Among the safety and driving assistance features, emphasis on automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keeping assistant, forward collision alert, IntelliBeam automatic headlights, blind spot alert, cross traffic alert, parking assistant, between others.
Under the hood, the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine delivers 139 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque, always mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Sales in the United States will begin in 2023, with prices starting at $21,495. In practice, the 2024 Trax will be Chevrolet's cheapest vehicle in the US. It will be positioned as a portfolio entry option, just below the Trailblazer. This one, by the way, runs a serious risk of going out of line, as has already happened in China.
