Evija Fittipaldi Edition: a deserved homage to legend Emerson Fittipaldi
The Lotus Evija now offers even more exclusivity thanks to the Fittipaldi Edition, a tribute to one of the best drivers ever to emerge in Formula 1.
It is, of course, Brazilian Emerson Fittipaldi, the young racer who joined Lotus in the early 1970s, becoming a legend and cementing his place in F1 history in 1972. Behind the wheel of the now-iconic Lotus Type 72 and winning 5 out of 11 races that season, Fittipaldi secured the Drivers' Championship for himself and the Constructors' Championship for Team Lotus.
Exactly 50 years later, the Lotus Evija Fittipaldi is a fitting celebration of that partnership. Only eight examples of the all-electric two-seater will be hand-built in Hethel, UK. Deliveries to customers will begin early next year.
With the black and gold color scheme, which will also turn 50 in 2022, the hand-painted exterior and many other unique design features have been created to celebrate this incredible collaboration.
Among the enhancements to this special edition are a Type 72 logo etched into the exposed carbon fiber roof, Fittipaldi's signature hand-stitched into the dash, the rotating screen on the floating center instrument cluster that was handcrafted from aluminum from the original Type 72. recycled, the name written on the bodywork in gold letters on the rear window, wheels also in black and gold 'Type 72' with anodized edges and central locking (red on the left side of the car and green on the right), as well as black and golden.
Black leather with contrasting gold stitching can be found throughout the cabin, along with unique stitching on the roof lining, as well as gold trim on the air vent bezels, central swivel screen, start/stop button and pedals. .
Despite its incredible power and performance, the driver remains at the center of the Lotus Evija, just as he was for the Emerson Fittipaldi in the Type 72. The technical specifications and performance figures of the Lotus Evija Fittipaldi Edition are truly astonishing: more than 2,000 hp the make it the most powerful series production car in the world, with more than 1,700 Nm of torque.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is less than 3 seconds, and the sprint from 0 to 300 km/h is completed in 9 seconds. Top speed is limited to 350 km/h.
