DACIA

Veteran Logan could win an electrified version for the European and Moroccan markets

This year's edition of the Paris Motor Show gave Dacia representatives the opportunity to speak to the public about the strategy and plans that the Romanian manufacturer has for the coming years.

Dacia is going through a good period from every point of view, despite the crises faced by other major manufacturers on the European auto scene. Xaviert Martinet, responsible for sales at Dacia, spoke about the semiconductor crisis and the strategy that the Romanian manufacturer adopted to avoid getting into trouble because of it.

Xavier Martinet stated that things went well for Dacia in this period precisely because Dacia's business unit is small, with a direct relationship between all functions, which allowed the rapid discovery of opportunities and corrective actions. Martinet also explains the fact that Dacia has direct contact with the factories in Romania and Morocco, so that solutions can be quickly found.

After the first nine months of the year, Dacia reported an increase of approximately 10 percent, while the European car market declined by approximately 10 percent. These are very good results, but Martinet says that sales would have been much higher this year if there hadn't been all this crisis.

Brand electrification plans... Asked about the possibility of Dacia bringing another SUV to the market in the next period, Martinet avoided giving a very clear answer, limiting himself to saying that “Spring, Sandero, Jogger, Duster and Bigster cover 80 % of the European market”. However, Martinet has not ruled out this option, especially as this is one of the most popular segments of the European car market.

In the electric chapter, Xavier Martinet has not ruled out the possibility that the future will bring us an electric Logan. In his opinion, Logan is a model that sells very well at this time in Romania and Morocco. “The future will tell us whether there will be an electric Logan or not,” the Dacia representative said on this occasion.
