Company starts sales in China of electric crossover G9
XPeng has announced the start of sales in China of the G9 electric crossover, which was launched last fall. The cost of new items, depending on the modification, ranges from 309,900 Yuan (US$44,270) to 469,000 Yuan (about US$67,000). Deliveries will begin in October.
The XPeng G9 proved to be much more expensive than the previous models from this Chinese automaker, although cheaper than competitors' electric crossovers, including solutions from China's Nio and Li Auto, as well as the popular Tesla Model Y. The Nio ES7 electric car is offered at China priced at 468,000 yuan, Li Auto Li 9 retails for 459,800 yuan, while the Model Y electric crossover starts at 316,900 yuan.
The XPeng G9 will come with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) powered by a pair of NVIDIA Orin-X chips that will cover autonomous driving scenarios in cities and highways. A few days earlier, Xpeng introduced the City NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot) autopilot, which is supposedly on par with the Tesla FSD. The system is currently being tested in Guangzhou, where it will be available to first-time buyers of the G9.
The XPeng G9 uses a 405 kW (550 hp) electric motor with a maximum torque of 717 Nm. Allows you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. The manufacturer also looks at the air suspension. Another feature of the G9 is support for fast charging, thanks to which, in just five minutes of charging at the XPeng station, the new crossover adds 200 km of power reserve. And in just 15 minutes, you can replenish battery power from 10% to 80%.
The company has 1,000 charging stations in China and intends to add another 500 stations by 2023. And by 2025, the number of XPeng charging stations in the country is expected to increase to 2000.
