Renault has introduced a new all-electric Renault R5 Turbo 3E car, designed specifically for drifting. Thus, the French brand celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Renault 5.
Renault R5 Turbo 3E rear-wheel drive received a two-engine power plant on the rear axle with a total power of 380 hp. with a torque of 700 Nm, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. Top speed is limited to 200 km/h.
The car is built on a tubular chassis with special bars and a carbon fiber body. Overall, it is similar in many ways to its predecessor, the Turbo 2. The new show car has large air intakes at the front, LED optics at the front and rear, as well as the original square fog lights. It has 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the back.
The Renault R5 Turbo 3E is designed for two people, with carbon fiber seats designed in collaboration with Sabelt for driver and passenger, as well as seat belts and steering wheel.
Dimensions are 4 x 2.02 x 1.32 m with a wheelbase of 2.54 m. The car weighs 980 kg, the battery weighs another 520 kg. The car received a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 42 kWh, which takes about two hours to fully charge from a 380-volt charger.
The Renault R5 Turbo 3E will be shown to the public for the first time at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance 2022 competition on Sunday, September 25, and will then be shown at the Paris Motor Show, which opens on October 17 this year.
