Bastianini(the front bike in the picture above) takes the lead in Aragon
The MotoGP race put the finishing touch to a spectacular motorcycling weekend at the Aragón Grand Prix. Actually, in the premier class everything was concentrated in the first and last lap. And we left the MotorLand circuit with the championship more open than ever and with three drivers in 17 points.
And all after an incident between Fabio Quartararo and Marc Márquez in the first corner. The Spaniard lost the rear wheel at the exit of turn 3 and was run over by the Frenchman, who ended up on the ground. Later, Marquez would also retire after yet another touchdown with Nakagami and a falling apart Honda. This was later explained by the Repsol Honda rider to the DAZN microphone
“The start has been very good. I played the first corner on the outside and it went well. And in turn 3, still with a cold tire, I had a scare and I had an accordion effect. Fabio was very close and he couldn't avoid colliding with me. I've already noticed that the bike was going weird and in turn 7, when I put the holeshot and I was riding parallel to Nakagami, the rear part got blocked and I had a piece of Quartararo's fairing on my bike. He threw my bike to the right and Nakagami hit me”.
After a spectacular start by Márquez, who in two corners had gone from 13th to sixth, his race ended in the first lap and he did not meet the objective of finishing the race and adding kilometers. But at least, he could say that he was physically whole.
The race was a walk, another one, for Ducati, which in the process secured its third consecutive Constructors' title. We will see if the pilots do not escape them either. At the moment there is freedom to compete, as demonstrated by the last lap in which Enea Bastianini snatched the victory from the theoretical leader of the brand, Pecco Bagnaia. We will see if they do not regret these 5 points that he has lost in Aragón.
And Aleix Espargaró who has shown that he is not giving up and has fought for the podium until the end with Brad Binder. The Spaniard returns to the box six races later and is still alive in the battle for the title, only 17 points behind Quartararo. An Asian tour is coming, with four races in five weekends, red hot...
