2023 Volkswagen ID.4 nos EUA começará em US $ 37.495

ID.4 electric crossover will start at $37,495 in the USA

Volkswagen has named the price of the ID.4 electric crossover for the 2023 model year, production of which began at the company's factory in Chattanooga (Tennessee, USA). The crossover will be offered at an MSRP of $37,495, making it one of the most affordable electric vehicles in its class on the market.

With a $7,500 federal tax credit, the price of an electric car would be even lower. Volkswagen said the 2023 ID.4 will cost $1,295 to ship.

The ID.4 is Volkswagen's most popular electric vehicle. Since its launch in 2021, the company has sold 190,000 units worldwide. The location of production in the USA has made it possible to reduce the price of an electric car. In Germany in 2021, at the time of production launch, the base model ID.4 was offered at a recommended price of $41,230.

The automaker originally planned to price the ID.4 in the US at $35,000, or $27,500 with a federal tax credit. However, the price announced on Thursday was higher than previously planned, as electric vehicle production and raw materials have increased in price sharply in four years.

According to the researchers, the average cost of raw materials, including cobalt, nickel and lithium, needed to make an electric vehicle battery is now around $8,255 per vehicle.

Deliveries of the ID.4 2023 in the US will begin in October 2022. The electric car will be offered in three trim levels - Standard/Pro, S and S Plus - with 62 kWh and 82 kWh batteries and rear or four-wheel drive . The base model ID.4 Standard will receive a 62 kWh battery, providing a range of 335 km in the EPA cycle.
