PORSCHE 911 993R BY PAUL STEPHENS AUTOART: UMA PREPARAÇÃO POTENCIADA E LEVE

911(993 series): 993R, the latest creation by Paul Stephens Autoart

The latest creation by Paul Stephens Autoart, the Porsche model specialist, takes the 911 from the 993 series as a base and converts it into the 993R. The project started with a customer order asking for a 993 with all areas improved by 25%.

The car took five years to be ready, taking into account the mandatory 'break' by the pandemic, and includes genuine Porsche Motorsport components and Paul Stephens' own design parts.

The 993R is lighter and more powerful than the original. This modified Porsche 911 has a 6-cylinder boxer engine with 3.8 liters instead of 3.6. Maximum power reaches 334 hp, which is a big improvement over the original 275 hp engine. However, Paul Stephens Autoart offers an optional extra power, up to 364 hp, with the cut-off at 8,500 rpm instead of 7,400 rpm.

The mechanics are combined with a 6-speed manual transmission, which features a lightweight clutch and flywheel. Engine preparation includes the crankshaft, bearings and oil pump from the 997 GT3, as well as pistons from the 993 RSR. The camshaft is by Paul Stephens himself, which has adjustable rocker arms from Porsche Motorsport.

Inside, the tuner installed an integrated safety cage and carbon fiber Recaro seats. To reduce the weight in the cabin, all non-essential electronics were eliminated, including the power windows, radio and air conditioning. The glove box, door handles and center console were also eliminated.

The 993R also incorporates composite materials to help further reduce the weight of the package. This beautiful sports car weighs 1,200 kilograms dry, less than the basic 993 Carrera 2, which weighed 1,379 kilograms on the scale.

According to Paul Stephens, the 993R expresses the company's philosophy of 'less is more'. The specialist is receiving more requests to develop other similar specimens and the truth is that it is not surprising, because the result can only be qualified as magnificent.

“The 993R is not a swan song, but I wanted it to be the best car made by the company that fulfilled and improved the customer's request,” Stephens said.
