Chinese automaker leverages outdated version of 2006 Ford Transit line with new design
When Ford halted production of the Transit, originally launched in 1986, in 2017, Chinese partner JMC adopted the model under his name and continued production with a stripped-down exterior. Now, Ford has also said goodbye to the Transit introduced in 2000, so JMC took that as its name - but the designers had a lot more luck redesigning it with the exterior.
Technically, 2 different versions will be offered, the cross-engine and front-wheel drive version receives a 2.0-liter turbodiesel developed by Ford with 146 horsepower, while the long-engined, rear-wheel drive version is equipped with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine of 1 liter from Isuzu, also a partner of JMC, with 122 horsepower.Only the current Transit will remain in Ford's Chinese range – it is true that its appearance will be changed soon, the generation change is still waiting – and the old ones will be available for purchase at the JMC dealer network. Even with the construction presented in 1986, they are counting on it for the long term, only now are they making the battery electric version.
