MAHINDRA

Mahindra and Volkswagen partner to manufacture vehicles

Mahindra and Volkswagen recently closed a cooperation agreement, the Indians will not take over the entire MEB construction kit, but some of its electrical components, which will be used in the self-developed technical base called Inglo. And now they have announced that they will immediately launch 5 recreational vehicles with this mixed technology, and between 2024 and 2026 they will start selling cars under the BE and XUV sub-brands.

The negotiations between Mahindra and VW are still ongoing, and will not be concluded until the end of the year – technical issues still need to be clarified – but it has been revealed that batteries with a capacity between 60-80 kWh (with the possibility of flash charging of 175 kW), 1 (231 HP) or 2 drive motors (system power 340 HP) and power electronics are taken over by Indians.

So far, we've only seen the angled cars as digital renders, which will be finished in part by the newly announced Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) design studio open in Banbury, UK, which will work in collaboration with the existing design center in Bombay.

Aside from looks, we don't know much about the new models, from the looks of it, there will be a spacious family car and a sporty leisure coupe on the palette, the interior will be dominated by digital displays.

The head-up display on the windshield evokes augmented reality, the onboard system capable of 5G communication can be upgraded remotely, but partially active suspension (electronically controlled dampers?), autonomous driving technology superior to Level 2 and 5-star passenger protection in the GlobalNCAP crash test. even at the press conference.
