Honda anuncia Honda Fit RS 2023

Fit RS: the new ''hot hatch'' version of the Japanese model

In October 2019, Honda presented the fourth generation of the Fit/Jazz, and is already talking about a new version of the model. As part of this article, the Japanese domestic market version of the car is presented ahead of its autumn debut. The following trim levels will be available to buyers: Basic, Home, Luxe, Crosstar and RS. Yes, the city car is getting a "charged" version of the RS, but don't think it's going to be a full hot hatch.

While we generally associate the "RS" emblem with fast Audi and Ford models, Honda uses this suffix in certain markets to denote sportier versions of its models.

For example, the Civic RS sedan has a more aggressive look but lacks a more powerful powerplant. It's the same story with the new Fit RS (pictured above), although we're told it will have more power than the smaller versions of the small hatchback.

As this is technically just a "preview" of the model, Honda doesn't go into too much detail about the Fit RS. We know it has a more powerful hybrid configuration, which is the only engine available for the European Jazz. In the "Velho Continente", the B-segment car has a total power of 109 hp. and 253 Nm of torque for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. The maximum speed will be 175 km/h.

Honda promises more engine power and better throttle response, as well as a unique Fit RS drive mode switch to choose between Normal, Sport and Econ. It also gets a "deceleration selector", represented by paddles mounted behind the steering wheel, to control regenerative braking in the same vein as the Honda Clarity.

It's important to note that the RS will be available exclusively with front-wheel drive, while other trims, including the Crosstar, are offered with all-wheel drive in the Land of the Rising Sun. The performance-focused Fit will have a slightly sportier look and yellow stitching inside the cabin. As with all other trim levels, Honda Sensing's suite of safety technologies will be standard.

Not long ago, our publication wrote that Honda has released a teaser of the future all-electric Prologue SUV. The 2024 Honda Prologue EV was announced in a designer video.
