Cuarta pole de la temporada para Pecco Bagnaia en Assen

Bagnaia arrives on the podium at Silverstone

Silverstone gave us the best race of the season and one of the best races of recent years in MotoGP. Overtakes, alternation in the head, duels with more at stake than mere position and epic. The one placed by Aleix Espargaró to finish in 9th and lose only 1 point in relation to his rival for the title, Fabio Quartararo.

After yesterday's brutal accident in FP4, Aleix Espargaró completed a warm-up in which it was already clear he was going to suffer. He had 20 laps to go in pain, but the Aprilia rider showed pride and got behind the Frenchman's wheel... and was about to steal his wallet on the last lap. Quartararo, who started like a shot and did a long manual lap, had a very long race on that soft tyre.

It looks like the MotoGP World Championship is not going to be a matter of two. Taking into account the level of Pecco Bagnaia, who won his fourth race of the season and is already 49 points behind the leader. The Italian, who didn't make any noise all weekend, did the trick in the race and managed to stop an unleashed Maverick Viñales, who was the fastest of the day, but was penalized for a bad start.

“Here we weren't able to use the device behind at first and everyone else used it and sprayed me at the beginning,” Maverick explained into the DAZN mic. However, the Catalan was happy with his second podium in a row: “I'll keep what I felt all weekend and one more podium. The goal is to win or fight to win, so I'm happy with the step I've taken since the beginning of the season."

And another battle with a lot at stake was played by Enea Bastinini and Jorge Martín. In this case, for that official Ducati that Jack Miller leaves in 2023. They play between Silverstone and Austria, and for now the battle here was won by the Italian with a return of the home brand and an overtake by the man from Madrid on the last lap. We'll see what they finally decide in Borgo Panigale...
