Could the mass-production version of the DS E-Tense Performance prototype 805PS become a reality?

A production version of the 805PS DS E-Tense Performance prototype could become a reality, but it would be a track-only, limited-edition, tech-packed Formula E car.

With a 0-100km/h time of just 2.0 seconds, this electric car would be one of the fastest ever produced, but it would come at a “very high” price, Béatrice Foucher (DS general manager) told Brits at Autocarro

The concept was unveiled in February of this year as part of a development project with the engineers of the Formula E team DS Techeetah, in which the French company has a large stake.

The E-Tense Performance has a 335hp front engine and a 469hp rear engine, which combine to produce 805hp.

Foucher states, “We would never go for sports cars, it's not the brand positioning, but at the end of the day when everyone saw the [DS E-Tense Performance] prototype, we said 'ok, it would be nice if we could build one, or sell that one. type of car', but the decision has not yet been taken.

She added: "If we make a decision, we're going to incorporate [koju smo naučili iz] Formula E technology, so that means in terms of homologation it wouldn't be possible to homologate for the road, so it would only be for the track, and if you to build a car for the track would be in very small quantities and at very high cost and prices.

"I don't know if there's a good equation for that, but everyone liked the car so we'll have to see."

Asked whether the production variant could draw on ideas and technology from Stellantis group sports brands such as Alfa Romeo, Foucher says: “Obviously what [Stellantis] design in terms of technology, in general, matches all the premium brands, so than in terms of powertrain, batteries and electric models.”
