FORD
The brand has confirmed that the 2023 Mustang will be revealed in Detroit Auto Show
Shortly after a rumor surfaced about the presentation of the seventh generation of the Ford Mustang in September, the news became official. Ford has confirmed that the 2023 Mustang will be unveiled on September 14 and will take place in Automobile City at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show.
The information was released via social media courtesy of Ford CEO Jim Farley. Plus, motorsport purists have all the more reason to rejoice, as the Mustang will offer an old-fashioned 6-speed manual transmission. In addition to the mechanical transmission, Ford has also confirmed that a V8 engine will power the next generation of the pony car.
And although the engine displacement has not been confirmed, it is almost certain that it will remain at 5.0 liters. Apparently, this high-performance option and the 4-cylinder EcoBoost mechanics will continue to be present in the new delivery of the car.
This means that the powers will probably be similar to the current line: 460 hp in the GT (V8) and 310 hp for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost. However, we will have to wait until September to see if this becomes official.
What happens later on could be very interesting. There was talk of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which could give way to the first Mustang coupe with all-wheel drive. This arrangement could bring electrical energy to the front wheels and that of the V8 to the rear.
There's also the matter of a hypothetical 6.8-liter V8 as part of a plug-in hybrid powertrain to get a high-performance electrified Mustang. This seems unlikely, but we will have to wait for events.
At least some questions will be answered on the 14th of September. The 2023 Mustang will grace the renovated Detroit Auto Show, which will take place both indoors at Huntington Place and outdoors in various locations across downtown America.
