DALLARA STRADALE
Dallara Stradale EXP Zanardi Tribute...The Dallara Stradale shows off a new bodywork with unique colors. During the last weekend, as part of the 'Historical Minardi Day' at the Imola circuit, Andrea Levy's 777 Collection car took to the track with the new EXPerence aerodynamic kit.
And that's not all. The Dallara's bodywork was dedicated to Alex Zanardi, who drove the Italian team's former Formula 1 single-seater in the championship in the early 1990s.
Levy's Stradale is the first car equipped with the new kit, which adds new front attachments and a biplane rear spoiler. These solutions make it possible to develop an aerodynamic load that is much greater than the weight of the car, further improving the Dallara's performance and balance.
As we mentioned, the Stradale present at Imola will have an aesthetic dedicated to Zanardi, and in particular a tribute to the overtaking maneuver performed by the driver against Bryan Herta at Laguna Seca, on September 8, 1996.
In that grand prix, valid for the Indy Championship, Zanardi managed to overtake his rival on the last lap in the double curve known as the 'Corkscrew' of the American circuit, in a famous maneuver that is remembered as 'The Pass'.
On the side of the Dallara's body there is a QR code that, if scanned with a smartphone, connects with the original video of the Italian driver's overtaking. All in a nod to the past.
Underneath the bodywork of the Dallara that appears in the images, an authentic racing car engine is hidden. The EXP version, in fact, is equipped with a 2.3-litre turbocharged, 4-cylinder block of Ford origin, with 500 hp and 700 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
The carbon fiber chassis and the absence of a roof and windshield allowed the weight to be reduced to just 890 kilograms, achieving a power-to-weight ratio of 1.78 kg/hp. To give an example, the Bugatti Chiron, one of the most extreme hypersports in the world with 1,600 hp, has a ratio of 1.22 kg/hp.
It is likely that, thanks to the EXPerence aerodynamic kit, the Stradale's potential is even more extreme and comes closer to that of an authentic racing car.
