ACURA ARX-06: SURGEM OS PRIMEIROS DETALHES OFICIAIS DO NOVO CARRO DE CORRIDAS COM MOTOR HONDA PERFORMANCE

The brand presented the first images and official details of its new electrified sports prototype at the Rolex 24 race in Daytona

Acura Motorsports this week unveiled the first images and official details of the new Acura ARX-06 electrified sports prototype, which will make its debut at the Rolex 24 race at Daytona.

The latest in a line of successful Acura endurance racing prototypes, the ARX-06 features specific bodywork and aerodynamics based on the new ORECA LMDh chassis, which utilizes an electrified hybrid power unit with a 2.4-liter engine. all-new biturbo and a V6 internal combustion engine designed, developed and manufactured by Honda Performance Development (HPD), the racing division of Acura Motorsports in the United States.

The Acura AR24e powertrain was developed by Honda Performance Development to bring electrification to the endurance sports car racing program. This complete hybrid power unit is based on the Acura AR24e internal combustion engine (ICE), a direct injection racing V6 block with a 2.4-liter twin turbocharger.

At 2.4 litres, this is the smallest-displacement ICE designed by the department for endurance racing, yet it still meets the performance target of 500 kW measured at the rear axle. It has a 90 degree V angle to reduce its center of gravity and polar moment of inertia. In addition, the combustion chamber is designed to run on sustainable, low-carbon fuel.

The hybrid power diagram includes an IMSA specified Bosch Electric Engine Generator Unit (MGU) and a Williams battery pack. The MGU is housed in a common transmission housing and housing internals are supplied by Xtrac. The battery, inside the chassis survival cell, was manufactured by Williams Advanced Engineering.

Exterior design of the Acura ARX-06 was handled by Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, California, along with HPD and chassis supplier ORECA, one of the chassis suppliers approved for prototype competition, both in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. as in the World Championship (WEC).

HPD aero engineers and CFD in-house aero engineers worked with Acura design studio and chassis manufacturer ORECA to help develop the style and maximize aerodynamic performance of the ARX-06, while keeping it within the homologation tables as specified by IMSA and FIA.
