Chevrolet Blazer EV will have a starting price of $44,995 and with an exclusive version for the American police
General Motors Corporation this week revealed additional details about the Chevrolet Blazer EV electric crossover, built on the Ultium platform. Consumers will be offered four versions of the car, plus one for police teams. The two mid-range trims will begin shipping from a factory in Mexico in summer 2023, the more affordable one will be delayed until 2024 but will offer $44,995 front-wheel drive and a range of around 400km.
It is worth noting that the crossover will be available with different drive options. While only front-wheel drive is available for the base 1LT, the $47,595 2LT will now be available with both front-wheel and all-wheel drive. The front-wheel drive version of the 2LT will have a range of 470 km, according to the automaker's own estimates. The RS trim will come with either front- or rear-wheel drive, depending on the capacity of the traction battery, which has yet to be disclosed. In this case, such a car can be purchased with four-wheel drive. The cost of the basic version of the RS reaches US$ 51,995, the power reserve is estimated at 512 km, and the RS and 2LT versions will be on the assembly line of the venture in Mexico until the summer of next year.
All versions of the crossover are equipped with a 17.7-inch touchscreen multimedia system and 11-inch electronic instrument panel, as well as LED lighting. The older SS modification will not only stand out with 22-inch wheels, but also without alternative all-wheel drive, combined with a power reserve of 464 km and a power plant of around 557 hp. GM estimates this version of the crossover at $65,995 and aims to bring it to market by the end of 2023, closer to fall or winter. The more affordable version of the 1LT machine won't hit the assembly line until Q1 2024. Civilian versions of the crossover will be available in Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode, which will accelerate to 60 mph in under four seconds. The police modification will differ not only in the presence of a battering ram on the front bumper and special light and sound signals, but also in the maximum power reserve in the line, as well as improved brakes.
The traction battery can be recharged with a standard 11.5 kW AC charger or with a 190 kW high-speed DC charger that offers up to 125 km of range in just ten minutes. The two older versions of the crossover will get heated and ventilated front seats (the SS also has a heated second row), as well as a heated steering wheel, truncated from bottom to top along the string. The prerogative of the two older configurations will also be the electric drive of the fifth door. Pre-orders for the Chevrolet Blazer EV crossover are now being accepted on the automaker's website.
