The special edition YZF-R3 World GP 60th Anniversary Edition arrives in Brazil
To commemorate Yamaha's brilliant track record in motorcycle racing, the special edition YZF-R3 World GP 60th Anniversary Edition arrives in Brazil, a perfect machine for everyday use that carries the DNA of more than 60 years of competitions and victories.
The brand debuted at world grands prix in 1961, at the French GP, and since then has won more than 500 victories with riders such as Phil Read, Giacomo Agostini, Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson, Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi. The latest rider to join this elite squad is Fabio Quartararo, current champion and leader of MotoGP for the 2022 season.
With production scheduled until December 2022, this Special Edition features the white paintwork associated with the famous Yamaha Speed Block in red. It comes with a yellow number plate on the front and a red front fender. The tank still has the emblem alluding to the anniversary, along with a red stripe also present on the sides of the tail.
The Special Edition also features gold accents on the wheels, forks and tuning fork badges, just like the factory Yamaha Teams. The throttles are black and there is a special commemorative emblem on the airbox cover.
The new YZF-R3 World GP 60th Anniversary Edition will be available at Yamaha dealers in the second half of May, and has a suggested public price of 30,890 reais shipping, and for the State of São Paulo, 31,902 reais shipping.
More on the YZF-R3 World GP 60th Anniversary Edition...A quick look at the YZF-R3 is enough to notice that it carries Yamaha's R Series DNA, present in the YZF-R6 and YZF-R1 supersports. This inspiration can be noticed above all in the design of the front fairing with the two headlights and position lights entirely in LED, and in the M-shaped air intake duct, inspired by the YZR-M1 of champion Fábio Quartararo. This central duct between the headlights has the function of directing the flow of air to the radiator, optimizing the engine's cooling system. The entire fairing was developed with the highest technology in a wind tunnel.
Also worth mentioning when it comes to design, the beautiful fully digital panel with large characters, repositioned indicators and excellent contrast. Its look is bold, with a cleaner layout and even easier and dynamic reading. And the best, it is super complete, it brings information such as fuel indicator, gear indicator, tachometer, instantaneous and average consumption indicator, total and 2 partial odometer, clock, oil change indicator and coolant temperature.
In it are still the indicator lights of arrows, injection system, high beam, neutral, oil pressure and Shift Light, which is extremely functional in a motorcycle with a sporty character.
Used on high-displacement models, the Shift Light is a warning light to indicate that the speed for gear shifting has been reached. It can be easily adjusted according to the driver's preference, whether in the brightness level (with three options), in the way of lighting (intermittent or fixed), or in the desired rotation from 7,000 rpm.
The same boldness and aggressiveness of its sporty design are present in its performance and performance, both inside the tracks, with the R3 Cup and the SuperBike 300 World Championship, as well as on the streets and roads. Thanks to its renowned high-performance engine, it is able to offer quick throttle responses, power at low and medium revs and even thrill at the highest revs.
With a modern concept, both in design and in the noble processes and materials used in its construction, the R3's in-line twin-cylinder engine has a cubic capacity of 321 cc. It has dual camshaft (DOHC - Dual Over Head Camshaft), 4 valves per cylinder, liquid cooling and electronic fuel injection and is capable of generating maximum power and torque of 42 hp at 10,750 rpm, and 29.6 Nm at 9,000 rpm. , respectively. In it, the aluminum pistons are forged (similar to those used in competition motorcycles), and the cylinder uses Yamaha's DiASil technology, an aluminum and silicon alloy that provides less vibration, better heat dissipation and performance gain.
In addition to the powerful engine, another trademark of the R3 is its surprising agility. Everything about it was thought to make it a fast and balanced motorcycle, characteristics that are welcome in any situation of use. A good example of Yamaha's effort in this regard is its exhaust. Of the 2x1 type, it has an expansion chamber system, which reduces noise and improves performance, and its tip with bold design and compact dimensions, is positioned close to the center of the chassis to favor mass centralization.
The combination of its low weight of 171 kg in running order and competent cycling contributes to its agility and ease of riding. Other important factors in this regard are the Diamond-type steel chassis with a double upper beam and the suspensions, which combine strength with lightness, promoting stability and firmness in the ride. The front shock absorbers that equip the generation are of the USD type (Up Side Down) with 130 mm of travel, capable of guaranteeing an incredible balance between lightness, agility and sporty performance.
The biggest advantage of inverted suspension is in its ability to offer greater control and stability when riding. Due to the greater rigidity of the set, this type of suspension is more resistant to torsion, especially in curves and when braking. At the rear, the R3's suspension uses the Monocross-type system, with an asymmetrical steel balance, a single damper with seven spring preload adjustments and 125 mm travel.
As a worthy supersport, the YZF-R3 also impresses with its ability to brake in short spaces, braking as well as it accelerates. At the front, the model is equipped with a competent system consisting of a dual-piston caliper and a ventilated floating disc with a generous 298 mm in diameter. At the rear, the set consists of a 220 mm ventilated disc and a single-piston caliper. Both the front and rear brakes have an ABS system. Whether in sudden emergency braking or in conditions where the floor offers poor grip - such as rainy days or dirty asphalt - it prevents the wheels from locking, minimizing risks and increasing control.
