MERCEDES-BENZ EQS SUV: REDEFININDO O LUXO ELÉTRICO DENTRO E FORA DA ESTRADA

EQS SUV: in fact starts a new all-electric era for the brand

The new Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is the third model developed using an all-electric architecture and joins the recently introduced EQS and EQE sedans in Europe. The new vehicle offers plenty of space, comfort and connectivity for up to seven passengers in a luxurious, avant-garde interior. Thanks to powerful electric motors, 4MATIC all-wheel drive and intelligent OFFROAD driving mode, the EQS SUV is capable of tackling many challenges on various types of terrain.

The EQS SUV shares the long wheelbase (3,210 millimeters) with the EQS Sedan, but is 20 centimeters taller. The internal measurements benefit from the generous external dimensions creating a unique design that combines aerodynamics and functionality in the brand's new electric vehicle platform. The second row of seats can be electrically adjusted and up to four golf bags fit in the generous trunk. A third row of seats with two additional individual seats expands comfort features for all passengers. The new EQS SUVs have an electric power train (eATS) on the rear axle, while the 4MATIC versions also have eATS on the front axle. On 4MATIC models, the Torque Shift function ensures variable distribution of drive torque between the rear and front electric motors, making the use of eATS more efficient.

For the EQS SUV, the over-the-air (OTA) remote update system has been significantly expanded. For example, various equipment and systems such as Trailer Maneuvering Assist, MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User

Experience) or the augmented reality system can be activated after purchase. With this range of electric models, Mercedes-Benz is taking a big step towards zero-emissions mobility and is moving further and further towards fulfilling its 'Ambition 2039' plan. The EQS SUV, which will be produced in a completely CO2-neutral way, at the Tuscaloosa plant, in the United States, offers real solutions for emission-free mobility and intelligent conservation of resources.

The chassis of the new EQS SUV has a four-link axle at the front and an independent multi-link suspension at the rear. The AIRMATIC air suspension with continuously adjustable ADS damping is standard equipment and can raise the vehicle's height by several centimetres. In addition to the Dynamic Select ECO, COMFORT, SPORT and INDIVIDUAL modes, the 4MATIC versions have OFFROAD, a special mode for off-road driving. In addition, the steerable rear axle features a steering angle of up to 4.5 degrees. It provides a lot of maneuverability in the city and agility out of it. And through an OTA update, a version with a steering angle of up to 10 degrees will be available.

Like the other models of the brand, the EQS SUV has a rigid passenger cell, special crumple zones and modern restraint systems. The European version of the EQS SUV is the first Mercedes-Benz model to be able to detect whether the rear seats are actually occupied. If a passenger in the rear is not wearing a seat belt, the driver receives a specific warning. With ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL Plus, the brand thinks holistically about air quality in the EQS SUV. The system is based on filtration, sensors, a display concept and air conditioning. HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) has a very high level of filtration to retain fine particles, microparticles, pollen and other substances that enter with the outside air.

The navigation system plans the fastest and most convenient route, including charging stops, based on various factors and dynamically reacts to traffic jams or a change in driving style, for example. This includes a preview in the MBUX infotainment system whether the battery's state of charge is sufficient to return to the starting point without charging. Charging stations along the route that have been manually added take precedence when calculating the route. Proposed charging stations can be excluded and estimated charging costs per charging stop are calculated.

With intelligent software, MBUX fully adapts to its users and provides personalized suggestions for numerous infotainment, comfort and vehicle functions. With what is known as 'layer zero', more important applications are always offered at the highest level within the field of view, according to situation and context. The highlight of the interior is the MBUX Hyperscreen, a large, curved screen that almost completely covers the front panel. The 12.3-inch OLED screen for the front passenger gives them their own screen and control area. In Europe, and in an increasing number of countries, the front seat passenger can also watch dynamic content while the vehicle is in motion. This is because the model is able to rely on a smart lock: if the camera detects that the driver is looking at the passenger's screen, the system automatically darkens the content, increasing security during use.

The Dolby Atmos sound system takes the unique audio experience in the EQS SUV. Both individual instruments and mixed voices can be enhanced. A new type of sound animation makes this possible because while conventional stereo systems often have a 'left-right' dynamic, Dolby Atmos can use the entire space to create a 360-degree experience.
