PALISADE 2023: the brand's SUV appears more ''renewed''
In the last few months we have been following the development process of the new Hyundai Palisade 2023 very closely. After several incidents in broad daylight and even an official advance, the wait is over. Hyundai's renewed SUV was presented as part of the celebration of the New York Auto Show 2022. An event that represents a world showcase for the automobile sector. The Palisade has received a mid-life cycle update that will allow this generation of the Korean crossover to face the rest of commercial life ahead. A model that positions itself in the same category as the KIA Telluride, also renovated, and which now has a more modern design and, above all, expanded technological equipment.
Just take a quick look at the images to find out how Palisade has changed. As it is a facelift, the aesthetic novelties focus on the front and rear of the vehicle. At the front, there are updated optical groups and bumper. It is also worth highlighting the design adopted by the grid.
The side view brings out the SUV essence of this renewed model. Its shapes, free height in relation to the ground and roof bars, show that we are facing a crossover. In addition, the new 20-inch light-alloy wheels stand out. Ending our tour of the exterior at the rear, we realized that the changes were minimal. The most outstanding novelty in this aspect is the bumper. The lanterns have a vertical and slightly enveloping arrangement. The visible exhaust outlets and the small but evident roof spoiler are other features to highlight.
Hyundai took advantage of this update to increase the level of personalization. In addition to revamping the wheel designs, a new body color called Robust Emerald was added. And to top it off, the XRT trim level has been added to the offer. A version that brings out the more adventurous and country side of this model.
Regarding the interior of the new Hyundai Palisade, we are surrounded by a warm and familiar atmosphere. The cabin is really spacious. We must bear in mind that in the interior of this Hyundai SUV, up to eight adult passengers can travel in a 2 3 3 layout. The brand also offers seven-seat versions (2 2 3) with two individual seats in the second row.
As with the exterior, there are also changes and innovations inside. The Korean manufacturer focused on improving finishes and technology. The nerve center of the cabin is now a 12-inch touchscreen that combines with distinctive digital instrumentation. The multimedia system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Connectivity options are sufficient.
The list of driver assistance systems has also been expanded. Among other technologies, it features forward collision avoidance, intelligent remote parking assistant, safe exit assistant, lane keeping assistant, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and driver attention function. The number of airbags was even increased, from seven to nine.
As for the mechanical part, there is no news. So if we take a look under the hood of the new Palisade follows a 3.8-liter V6 gasoline engine that develops an output of 295 hp (291 hp) and 355 Nm of maximum torque. A block associated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. There is no manual transmission option.
It will also continue to be possible to configure the Palisade with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The four-wheel drive HTRAC system incorporates a new trailer driving mode that maintains lower gears and reduces gearshift frequency. Likewise, Normal, Sport and Smart modes will continue to be available.
Regarding the arrival of the SUV on the market, the commercial launch of the new Palisade will happen very soon. Landing at dealerships of the renewed crossover is scheduled for next summer in the northern hemisphere. For the time being it is unknown what its price will be. Remembering that the model that can still be found on the market is available from $33,350.
