Polestar O2: It's the most electrified sport in the range
The Polestar brand, owned by Volvo, continues to develop a family of electric vehicles of its own. The Polestar 2 is already in production, the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 are on the horizon, and the previously revealed Precept concept is expected to evolve into the Polestar 5 by 2024. Now, the company has revealed another Polestar O2 concept, which is a convertible. luxury electric.
“The Polestar O2 is our vision for a new era of sports cars. Combining driving pleasure, an open top and the purity of e-mobility opens up a new mix of driving emotions," said Polestar head of design Maximilian Missoni.
According to reports, the Polestar O2(image above)) is built on the same aluminum platform used in the Polestar 5 concept, which indicates a high level of versatility and adaptability to different needs. While the Polestar 5 will be a powerful 4-door Grand Touring car, the Polestar O2 will be a more compact 2-door sports car.
At this stage, the company has not provided specific specifications for the Polestar O2. However, it is noted that “undercover design features such as integrated air ducts that improve laminar airflow over the wheels and sides of the body, and taillights that act as air vanes to reduce turbulence behind the car” significantly improve the Polestar O2's aerodynamic performance. The interior uses modern, sustainable materials, including recycled polyester.
A notable feature of the car is a built-in drone that can take off behind the electric car to record videos with the driver. The drone is capable of accelerating up to 90 km/h, and the material captured by it can be transmitted through the car's infotainment system. When exactly the mass production-ready Polestar O2 version might appear remains to be seen.
