Brand announces the start of production of the new Nissan Frontier in Argentina
After a successful 2021 in sales, Nissan announces the start of production of the new Nissan Frontier, manufactured in Santa Isabel, Córdoba, to supply the local market, in addition to exporting to Brazil.
“Since we started production of the first Nissan Frontier in 2018, we have demonstrated our commitment to the country and South America, betting on our potential to become leaders in factory development, promoting the constant growth of the industry, the development of local suppliers and the opportunity to continue generating new jobs”, says Gonzalo Ibarzabal, president of Nissan Argentina.
The new Nissan Frontier, which this year will begin to be exported to Chile and Colombia, meeting Euro 6 standards, becomes a clear example of the Japanese brand's commitment to the region. It is also positioned as one of the main competitors in the segment due to its sales and acceptance by customers, ensuring the sustainability of the business and creating opportunities for Nissan in Argentina and South America in the medium and long term.
“We are promoting local production and creating an ecosystem of opportunities that goes from the supplier base, from the factory where Frontier is produced to the point of sale, and also contributing to our objective of promoting exports. In September 2021, we reached the mark of 25,000 Nissan Frontier units exported to Brazil since the beginning of production in Argentina and our expectations for this new model are encouraging”, adds Ibarzabal.
The reinforcement of Nissan's presence in Argentina is not new. This project began in 2015, with the announcement of an investment of 600 million dollars and a clear vision of the company's future in the country. In July 2018, the commitment was fulfilled with the launch of its first milestone: the birth of the locally produced Nissan Frontier.
A little less than three years later, after an additional investment of 130 million dollars, aimed mainly at the incorporation of high quality technology and the development of new local suppliers, Nissan takes another step forward, demonstrating with actions its genuine interest in collaborate with the growth of the local industry. This is reinforced by a successful 2021 for the company in Argentina, which increased its overall sales by 26% and those of Nissan Frontier by 58%. Success that Nissan Frontier has also been treading in Brazil. In 2021, the model registered the biggest increase in sales in its segment in the Brazilian market, with an increase of 40% compared to the previous year.
The new Nissan Frontier, produced in Cordoba, is backed by more than 80 years of global experience in the manufacture of light commercial vehicles. Furthermore, it is the result of years of research and long testing phases in Latin America to ensure the highest quality standards.
With the announcement of the start of production in Cordoba of the new Nissan Frontier, the company reaffirms the objective of its investments and the potential of the local production capacity, in addition to generating a positive impact on the growth of the high quality manufacturing footprint in Argentina and the region.
