NISSAN
Brand presents at the Chicago Auto Show 2022 factory and aftermarket accessories available for the Frontier pick-up
It has been a year since the Japanese brand presented the renewed Nissan Frontier 2021. It is one of its most popular models in the United States, which had a significant increase in its sales compared to the previous year. Now is the time to celebrate your success at the 2022 Chicago Auto Show.
With the aim of showing the available factory and aftermarket accessories for the pick-up, the Japanese manufacturer has prepared three very flashy prototypes. All are based on Frontier Crew Cab, but aim for different types of customers. Regarding the finishes, the S, SV and PRO-4X were chosen. The work is the work of Hiren Patel, lead project designer at Nissan.
Under the hood, Nissan chose to keep the 3.8-liter V6 engine with 314 hp and 381 Nm of maximum torque. As in the series model, the block is coupled to a 9-speed automatic transmission that improves consumption and is offered with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, with Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control as standard.
The three prototypes of the Nissan Frontier...The first one is the Project 72X. Pays homage to the Datsun 720, one of Nissan's most successful models in the past. It was also the first vehicle assembled by the company in the United States. More specifically at the Vehicle Assembly Plant in Smyrna (Tennessee) in 1983. The aim is to offer a basic and affordable pick-up truck for enjoying the great outdoors.
Project Hardbody has an appearance reminiscent of the Nissan D21 Hardbody. This model features a three inch lift kit with adjustable top control arms. The vintage look is given by the plastic side guards and 'old school' wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires. The pick-up has a red finish with '80s-style graphics.
Finally, Project Adventure is the most interesting. It is an adventurous Frontier. It equips elements such as a super-elevated suspension, a Yakima rack, ladder and a roof-top tent. Nor is there a lack of a Kicker audio system with
Bluetooth connectivity, a simple kitchen and a sticker that represents an atlas of the United States.
Remembering that the PRO-4X version adds electronic locking differentials, Bilstein all-terrain shock absorbers and lower guards. On the front axle, it uses an independent double fork suspension with double-tube shock absorbers and hollow stabilizer bars. On the rear axle, it has multiple leaf springs connected to a solid Dana axle.
