BMW M2 CS ESTREIA NO MOTOGP: O PRIMEIRO SAFETY CAR PURO DE COMPETIÇÃO

The BMW M2 CS Racing will be the first pure racing model that is used as a flagship car

2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the BMW M. This is precisely the reason why the Bavarian brand wanted to put all the meat on the grill in its commitment to the Official MotoGP Car. This year the protagonist is none other than the BMW M2 CS Racing MotoGP Safety Car. The season starts on March 6th with the Qatar Grand Prix.

As a curiosity, it should be noted that this is the first pure competition model that is used as the main car in MotoGP. The BMW M2 CS Racing has been successful in a wide variety of championships. As a thoroughbred racing car, it is perfectly suited to lead the way as a safety car in the biggest motorcycle racing competition.

The BMW M2 CS Racing MotoGP Safety Car shows how deeply rooted BMW M is in motorsport. Along with it, there will be no shortage of other Safety Cars such as the BMW M3 and M4 Competition, the M5 CS and the M8 Competition Gran Coupe. Rounding out the team are the BMW X5 M Competition Medical Car, two BMW M 1000 RR Safety Bikes and the BMW i4 M50 Safety Car for MotoE.

Based on the BMW M2 CS Racing, this coupe continues the brand's customer-focused racing car tradition. It has been tuned on some of the most demanding circuits, such as Miramas (France), Portimão (Portugal) and the iconic Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

For its development, BMW Motorsport engineers took the BMW M2 CS as a basis and incorporated many of the development ideas of the BMW M4 GT4. The BMW M2 CS Racing has a 6-cylinder S55 engine under the hood with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology.

With a displacement of 3.0 liters, this competition version can develop between 280 and 450 hp, depending on the Balance of Performance or Permit B classification. The maximum torque of 550 Nm is transmitted to the asphalt through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Another outstanding aspect of the BMW M2 CS Racing is the engine management. It also features motorsport-specific driving aids such as ABS and DSC, a mechanical limited-slip differential with preload and independent cooling, as well as specially crafted driveshafts and a carbon roof.

For its role as MotoGP's safety vehicle, the BMW M2 CS Racing only needed modifications in a few areas, including the addition of roof light bars and headlights. The livery of the new BMW M2 CS Racing MotoGP Safety Cars references the 50th anniversary and is based on the BMW M GmbH anniversary logo.
