ALFA ROMEO
BRENNERO: it is the newest electrified compact-size SUV of the Italian brand
One of the brands that stood out the most during this month of February was Alfa Romeo, mainly for the presentation of its expected compact-sized SUV. However, the Italian manufacturer has already prepared a roadmap that includes several very important launches, including that of its first 100% electric vehicle, as well as possible illustrious returns in the form of sports cars. The latter are still a long way off, but not the EV model that the brand's own CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato, has just spoken of.
In a recent interview with Automotive News Europe, Imparato revealed very interesting details about the future of an Alfa Romeo that will see its first battery-powered car hit the market in 2024. A date when the Alfa Romeo Brennero will come true, being that , under this name, which is still provisional, will be based a vehicle destined to bring together a large part of the company's sales, as it will position itself in a segment as popular as the B-SUV, with European rivals that belong to the Stellantis Group itself, such as the Peugeot 2008 and Opel Mokka.
In this way, the Italian company's first electric vehicle will be located below the recently presented Tonale, presumably using the same architecture as the Jeep Renegade, although the CMP platform of the aforementioned Peugeot and Opel will not be ruled out. However, we are not talking about a model that will exclusively use a battery-powered powertrain, as the smaller brother of the Tonale will also be available with combustion engines, as well as hybrid versions. To get to know Alfa Romeo's first exclusively electric vehicle, we will have to wait until 2025, the year from which all the brand's novelties will be of this type.
To be competitive over the next few years, Alfa Romeo will need a full range of new products. In total, there will be five novelties that we will see, or rather four, since one of them is the aforementioned Tonale. Two of them will correspond with the respective successors of the Giulia and Stelvio, while the fourth will be the B-SUV we are talking about. The Italian manufacturer assures that it has not yet decided what it will do with the farm, only that it will also compete outside Europe, implying that it will also arrive in the United States.
Last but not least, it should be noted that one of Alfa Romeo's goals is to present a significant model each year until 2030, whether it is a novelty or an updated product. We will have to wait to see new details and the first images of the Italian brand's first 100% electric vehicle.
