RALLY DAKAR 2022

Trucks stage 3 top 12 - Karginov leads Kamaz 1-2-3

Andrey Karginov has triumphed in the day’s special. Behind the wheel of his Kamaz(image above), the Russian, who was head and shoulders above the rest in 2020, has finished only 38’’ ahead of Dmitry Sotnikov. Eduard Nikolaev has completed the stage in third place, 2’14 in front of Anton Shibalov. In his Prague truck, Aleš Loprais rounds off the top five, one place ahead of the Iveco driven by Janus Van Kasteren.

Andrey Karginov has been the quickest truck driver to reach the check point, but only with a lead of 8 seconds over Eduard Nikolaev but more than 30 over Dmitry Sotnikov. Whilst yesterday Aleš Loprais squeezed into the placings among the Kamaz clan, today it is the turn of Martin Macík. The Iveco driver lies in fourth, just in front of Anton Shibalov.

The Kamaz quartet formed by Dmitry Sotnikov, Eduard Nikolaev, Anton Shibalov and Andrey Karginov has kicked off proceedings in the day's special in the truck race. Aleš Loprais, who squeezed in between the blues in yesterday's finishing places, will be the fifth man to start after receiving a 15-minute penalty after the finish on Sunday

The official Kamaz trucks seem a cut above the rest. While Anton Shibalov and Andrey Karginov lost some time on Sunday, they played their part in a new thunderous performance by the team, which placed four blue trucks in the top 5. Aleš Loprais and his Prague managed to best their rivals in the fight for the stage podium and is dead set to do it again. Martin Macík could also stir up trouble.
