RALLY DAKAR 2022

Sunderland y Al-Attiyah llegan como líderes a la jornada de descanso

Sunderland and Al-Attiyah llegan as leaders a la journey of rest

The sixth stage of the Dakar 2022 has been specially cut for motorcycle and quad riders. The track was neutralized at kilometer 101 due to the poor state of the track. The roundabouts that the coaches, 'Side by Side' and the trucks used to leave the day before were added to the rain that had fallen in the area to form a really dangerous terrain. Sanders was victorious under these conditions. The current champion of quads, Manuel Andújar, has abandoned the competition after suffering an accident. 'Orly' Terranova achieves the special in coaches, while Nasser Al-Attiyah is the biggest leader after the mistake of Sébastien Loeb.

Daniel Sanders was not happy with the neutralization of the stage. His pace was excellent and the driver ensured he felt comfortable on the road. The prospect of continuing to cut short his rivals was that the runner wanted to complete the journey: «For me there were no problems, I have faced conditions like that on other occasions, for example, in Morocco this winter. Unfortunately, many pilots quejaron en el avituallamiento. Yo wanted to follow. Be aware that I am fast, especially on rocky terrain. It's a type of surface that I have with me, thanks to my past experience in endurance and work that I have during the entire season with the motorcycle, which gives me a lot of confidence in terrains there. He's worked hard and I'm eager to demonstrate to them that he's deserved the pain.”

Adrien Van Beveren(image above) faces the third day of rest in the general classification, less than six minutes from Sunderland. The Frenchman explained the risks that had been encountered in the runners: “I have the success of arriving sane and saved from this special stage, which has been especially dangerous. The 'roadbook' has been conceived to indicate the dangers that a track presents. The problem is that we have found that the track was complete and had 300 meters of height after the carriages and trucks ayer. The dangers were signaled at times in the veins because you were 100 meters away and the opposite. He endured as he could and given the best of mismo. He succeeded in good times and tried to be consistent. We are in the game, the place is stupendous. I am satisfied with the first week of Dakar. The stage of ayer in the tan buena para mí, but it is part of the career y nos pasa a todos».

'Orly' Terranova(image above) is there with the triumph of today's special, the seventh of his career and the first in Arabia Saudí. Upon reaching the finish line, he highlighted the hardness of the stage and discussed his expectations for the rest of his career: «It was a difficult stage because there were motorcycles, some of them were wrong. For this reason we have had to keep us very focused. It wasn't easy to get ahead of other coaches because before the first part was fast, the whole world was running at a fast pace. In the neutralization of our feeling we were doing a good job so that in the second part we continued attacking. The arena was very white as driving was not easy. Upon reaching the goal, we have won the stage, which is always a joy. The coach is fantastic and the idea is to keep attacking».

Nasser Al-Attiyah keeps advancing with firm step in this Dakar. He reaches the rest day with an advantage of more than 50 minutes compared to those of his immediate pursuers, the saluted Yazeed Al-Rajhi and the Frenchman Sébastien Loeb: «We are very happy to be here. We have been attacked since the beginning and we have seen that several pilots have made mistakes. I am happy to have reached the rest day with a benefit there. Let's go very well. I've seen that Sébastien made a mistake on the way… but that's not my problem. Our objective is to manage our advantage in the best possible way during the week that comes without taking risks. However, we have to maintain a strong rhythm, because when we run too relaxed we end up making mistakes”.
