KTM 890R CHEGA AO BRASIL E PROMETE CONQUISTAR O MERCADO OFF-ROAD

New brand model arrives in Brazil

Powerful, light, compact, and, above all, with the best off-road performance available on the market. The new KTM 890R combines the iconic look of an enduro bike, inspired by the Austrian manufacturer's achievements in the 'Dakar Rally', with the comfort and high performance of a bigtrail. Equipped with the latest in electronics, new suspensions and even more power, with the addition of 90 cm3, the launch, which arrives this month (December 2021) at KTM dealerships and promises to be the definitive bike for anyone looking to surpass limits on off-road riding and adventure tourism.

Power is not lacking in the new KTM 890R. The launch received updates to its powerful in-line, four-valve, liquid-cooled twin engine. With the addition of 90 cm3, the bike now reaches a maximum power of 105 hp at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 100 Nm at 6,500 rpm. In addition to being more powerful, the launch offers an even more agile driving due to a 20% increase in rotating masses and also thanks to the new configurations of the ABS system, the traction control (MTC) and the new and more resistant six-speed transmission - with optional quickshift - which makes the bike's response immediate as soon as the accelerator is pressed.

With an aggressive look and reputation for conquering all types of terrain, the KTM 890R arrives in the Brazilian market with updated features. Its 240mm travel, fully adjustable WP XPLOR suspension has been re-configured allowing riders to ride even harder. The bike also had slipper-type clutch upgrades, essential to handle the increased torque and power from the engine's additional 90cc. In addition, thanks to the latest electronic updates and refinements to the pre-muffler - a silencer that integrates the exhaust system catalyst -, the launch meets the EURO 5 standards for the control of pollutant emissions.

Ready for long distances, the new KTM 890R offers greater comfort and confidence to challenge long hours of travel. The launch is equipped with a height-adjustable seat and a new cruise control switch, a function that allows you to maintain a stable speed without the need to apply the accelerator. In addition, the bike received a complete TFT panel, LED lighting system and a tank with a capacity of 20 liters of fuel. The electronics part offers all the main tools developed by KTM, which include functions such as 'My Ride', 'Off Road Ride Mode', 'Off-Road ABS', 'Cornering ABS', 'Street Mode', 'Rain Mode' and 'Traction Control'.

Designed to be a mid-range travel-enduro bike, the new KTM 890R was built with performance in mind. The tall front fender, narrow chassis and lower fuel tank and dashboard visually confirm this. The new brake system guarantees all the necessary safety for high performance driving. The launch comes equipped with an ABS system, with a double 320 mm disc and radial calipers at the front, and a single 260 mm disc with floating caliper at the rear.

Weighing 196 kg of dry weight, the KTM launch was lighter and more resistant thanks to the chassis updates, which received a frame and subframe constructed in carbon chromium-molybdenum steel, coated with powder paint. Suspensions have been updated with high quality WP components and a new rear shock absorber. At the front, the 890R 2021 received an inverted Ø 48 mm WP-XPLOR suspension, and at the rear, it was equipped with a WP-XPLOR shock absorber with Progressive Damping System (PDS), both with a stroke of 240 mm.

The Austrian manufacturer also made available in Brazil the version more focused on the road to launch. The KTM 890 has few changes from the 890R. In addition to the graphics, the more comfortable bi-partition seat, the absence of a high front fender and a considerably larger windshield bubble, the main difference is in the suspensions. The 890 model uses an inverted Ø 43 mm WP APEX suspension at the front and a WP APEX shock absorber at the rear, both with 200 mm of travel, making the bike 4 cm lower than in the 890R version, an item that is very pleasing in urban use and for people of medium height.
