POLARIS
Slingshot 2022 arrives with a lot of news
The Polaris Slingshot has remained unchanged for a long time, but for two years the brand has not stopped introducing improvements. After the extensive refurbishment of the line in 2021, the company returns to the charge with an even more complete and interesting Polaris Slingshot 2022. The only bad news is that prices have risen sharply. The price of the Polaris Slingshot 2022 is still starting at $19,999. However, the R version goes up to $32,499. SL, for its part, rises 1,000 dollars, up to 25,999. One of the most interesting options is the new SLR finish.
Set between the mid-range SL and the R sports car, the model starts at $28,899. It stands out for a two-tone painted exterior that combines glossy, matte paint with colorful graphics. Add to its aesthetics a specific lighting and premium aluminum wheels with a rear tire wider than the simplest finishes.
The cabin inherits most of the elements of the SL finish, but includes the Sport Interior package of the R. Thanks to this, the SLR is equipped as standard with a Rockford Fosgate audio system and an infotainment system with a 7.0-inch screen and Bluetooth connectivity. Apple CarPlay is reserved as standard for the R finish.
On a mechanical level, it keeps the 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre aspirated engine. Developed internally by Polaris, it is called ‘Prostar’. The Slingshot S and SL versions have 180 hp and 162 Nm of torque. The SLR goes up to 206 hp and 195 Nm of torque. For its part, the Slingshot R also reaches 206 hp and 195 Nm of maximum torque.
The drive is rear-wheel drive and the transmission is manual with 5 speeds as standard. The offer also features an AutoDrive automatic gearbox that has been completely readjusted to provide smoother, faster and more consistent shifts. Comes with renewed gear flaps. In all versions a Hill Hold function is available.
The Slingshot R finish gets some updates for 2022. Most notable is a new ventilated hood with air intake. It will be offered as an accessory for all 2020-2022 models. It also includes as novelties the four-piston Brembo front brakes with calipers in red or orange, with 14% larger discs.
These will be optional in other versions. As a new option for the line, we also find the Excursion Top, a soft retractable top. All accessories are grouped into four collections:
Drive Series: Ventilated hood, Excursion Top, wind deflector, heated/ventilated seats and a 25hp Prostar Tune Stage 1.
Exhaust: Excursion Top, heated/ventilated benches and plenty of storage.
Show: Rockford Fosgate audio system and XKGlow interior lighting.
Design Series: Ventilated hood, Slingshade roof, colored pieces, darkened insignia and wind deflector.
