Daily Line 30-160 and 35-160 have Euro 6 compliant engine

The lveco Daily line gained updated engines. With this, the Daily 30 and 35 comply with the new pollutant emission rules. For vehicles with total gross weight (PBT) up to 3.5 tonnes, the change takes effect on January 1, 2022. Thus, both models are already in compliance with the Proconve P8, equivalent to Euro 6. According to Iveco, the engines also got stronger. Phase 8 of Proconve, the national emissions control program, includes all types of trucks. However, for models with PBT above 3.5 t, the law will come into force in January 2023. With this, the other models in the Iveco Daily line will keep the current engines (P7, or Euro 5) in 2022.

According to Iveco, the Daily 30 and 35 with the new engines hit stores in January. However, the bad news is that prices will be, on average, 10% more expensive. For example, currently and Daily 30-130 in the 9 m³ van version starts at around R$ 230,000. Therefore, the new one will start at more than R$ 250 thousand.

Iveco Daily uses FPT engine...On the other hand, Iveco highlights the increase in power. Thus, the Daily 30-160 and 35-160 have a turbodiesel engine that generates 160 hp of power and 39 mkgf of torque. That is, there was a gain of 30 hp compared to the current entry-level versions of the line. However, in the case of models that currently have a 150 hp engine, the gain was 10 hp. In other words, the Daily 30-160 and 35-160 bring the F1C MAX engine produced by FPT Industrial. According to the company, it is a 3-liter in-line four-cylinder. Among the new features, there is an updated Common Rail electronic injection system. As well as variable geometry turbo (VGT).

In addition, to comply with the new rules, the engine received SCR and EGR technologies. According to Iveco, the SCR uses a catalyst together with the Arla 32. The reagent is used by medium, semi-heavy and heavy truck engines. As well as in passenger vehicles, like the Jeep Compass, for example. In turn, the EGR recirculates the gases generated by burning diesel.

Larger sump and thicker stringers...Another important change was the increase in the volume of the crankcase, which now has a capacity of 9.3 liters of oil. That is, 34% more than the previous version. As a result, the deadline for exchanges was increased from 15 thousand km to 30 thousand km. For the Daily 35-160 the axle ratio has been extended to 3.73:1.

A six-speed manual transmission is provided by ZF. Thanks to these and other innovations, there was a 3% reduction in diesel consumption. However, this number could reach 6%, according to Iveco. However, with all the new systems, the Daily has gotten around 80 kg heavier. In any case, the marketing director at Iveco, Bernardo Brandão, says that this will not impact the operation. According to him, the line has become more robust and its carrying capacity has increased. Collaborating with this is the fact that the Daily 35-160 version uses the same base as the brand's trucks.

Technical PBT (4400 kg)...Thus, it offers greater resistance compared to conventional monoblocks. According to Iveco, the model was even thicker thanks to the 5 mm thick spars. As a result, the increase in technical PBT was 200 kg. In other words, it became 4,400 kg. In the Daily City 30-160 version, the chassis has 4 mm thick stringers. Therefore, it kept the technical PBT of 3,900 kg. According to Brandão, this option is aimed at transporting lighter and larger loads.

In addition, Iveco renewed the cabin of the Daily line. Thus, the instrument panel gained more modern graphics. As well as the 3.5 inch LCD color screen it brings management and monitoring functions similar to those of a car. Activation is via buttons on the steering wheel.
