The retirement of legendary driver Valentino Rossi approaches

Valentino Rossi ruled out repeating Michael Schumacher and returning to active duty after retiring from MotoGP. The 42-year-old Italian is preparing to farewell the World Motorbike Championship at the end of 2021 and highlighted that he has tried to race for as long as possible. Schumacher retired from Formula 1 at the end of the 2006 season, already with seven world titles and 91 victories. After three championships apart, the German returned to active duty in 2010, with a three-year contract with Mercedes. The definitive retirement took place after in 2012, totaling 307 GPs, 68 poles, 155 podiums and 1,566 points. With four races to go in the 2021 season, Rossi has 368 GPs in MotoGP, with 89 victories, 199 podiums, 55 poles and 5,399 points.

Asked in Austin whether he could repeat Schumacher and retire when he tires of MotoGP, but then come back, Rossi replied: “Like Schumacher? No, no".

“I tried to run for as long as possible. I don't think I'll come back,” he concluded.
