Toyota Hilux 2012 appears monstrous with two Garrett turbochargers with 540 horsepower

While Toyota's 1GZ-FE engine isn't as popular as the 2JZ series, it's far from unnoticed mechanics. We've already seen this engine in conversions like the Supra MK4 and, originally, in the second-generation Toyota Century. However, it had never been present in a pickup truck like this Toyota Hilux.

Hilux is no stranger to large engines. On one occasion, a 6.2-litre AMG V8 engine conversion made all the headlines. However, little or nothing has to do that model with this V12. In fact, this engine itself has a long history, as it was sold between 1997 and 2017, no less than two decades.

Although the second-generation Toyota Century was only sold in Japan, one of these 5.0-liter V12 engines eventually made its way to South Africa. originally, it was satisfied with a 3.0 liter diesel block.

The pickup, which is from 2012, adds a pair of Garrett GT35 turbochargers to the equation to make it even wilder. Initially we talked about a mechanic capable of delivering 276 hp of power and 481 Nm of torque, but with the modifications raises this figure to nothing less than 540 hp and 970 Nm of maximum torque.

On the other hand, the Century 4-speed transmission was kept as standard, although a custom drive shaft was used.
